German Gymnasium
German Gymnasium – another venue in the D&D family of restaurants and bars is located in the regenerated heart of King’s Cross, a stone’s throw from the station making this a very convenient and accessible area for many.
The venue was Britain’s first purpose built gym and was the indoor site for the first Olympic Games in London in 1866. Now part of the regeneration of the Kings Cross area the Grade II building has been restored and is one of our favourites!
The German Gymnasium is a unique restaurant and bar home to various areas for semi private and private hire. The venue has a unique blend of space intimacy and architectural features. The venue is very versatile and lends itself well to any events.
The venue is home to a semi private dining room on the upper floor featuring an abundance of natural daylight and a bespoke table showcasing the venues original features. Accommodating up to 32 guests for a seated dinner or 50 guests for a standing reception this is a perfect space for an intimate event day or evening.
Event organisers can hire the full upper floor of the space which includes the Restaurant, Meister Bar and the semi-private dining area. The area can hold up to 250 guests for a standing networking event and has its own private entrance making this an exclusive space for guests attending. The space benefits from the ambience of the Grand Cafe and bar below.
Alternatively for numbers of up to 500 guests standing the venue can be hired on an exclusive basis. It is a very flexible space and a very sought after location. The dedicated events team are very helpful onsite and they can offer assistance with decor or you can keep the venue as it is.
We love this venue because of the incredible interior and history of the space. There are various areas that are perfect for most styles of social events.
